Transcarpathian Museum
of Folk Architecture and Life
is located in one of the most picturesque corners of our region, which preserves the culture and memories of the life and daily life of the population that lived in Zakarpattia in different historical eras.
The museum was opened on June 27, 1970. It occupies about 2 hectares.
The most characteristic examples of folk wooden architecture and everyday objects of various ethnographic groups of the population of Zakarpattia from the middle of the 18th to the 30s of the 20th century, as well as the architecture and daily life of the national minorities of Zakarpattia - Romanians and Hungarians - are presented here.
The total collection includes about 19,000 objects.

From the history of the museum
Work on the opening of the museum began back in 1965.
Then scientists began to go on expeditions in search of houses, household items, and household utensils.
The first houses appeared in 1967.
In June 1970, the Transcarpathian Museum of Folk Architecture and Life was officially opened to visitors.
Thus, our Uzhhorod open-air museum is one of the oldest open-air museums in Ukraine.
